NEW YORK, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ICL today announced the expansion of its award-winning mental and behavioral health, rehabilitation, clinical and residential support services for children, families and adults to all five boroughs of New York City, through its new affiliation with the SI Behavioral Network in Staten Island (SIBN).
Under ICL's leadership, SIBN will continue to provide access to critical care services for local residents diagnosed with serious mental illness through its network of medical centers, mental health clinics, and substance abuse treatment programs and supported housing.
"As one of the area's largest mental and behavioral health care agencies, ICL considers greatly the responsibility to expand our recovery-oriented programs and reduce the profound stigma attached with mental illness across all boroughs and communities of New York City," said David J. Woodlock, CEO, ICL. "Building on the strong foundation that SIBN has established locally, we can continue to advance society's viewpoint that people diagnosed with mental illness can and do get better."
Currently, SIBN cares for more than 400 people in its health homes for the Coordinated Behavioral Care's Pathways to Wellness Program and provides supported housing for 100 residents in Staten Island. Its programs include health education and transition services designed to reduce unnecessary use of hospital inpatient and emergency room care.
"We sought affiliation with ICL knowing that its reputation and excellence in effective treatment outcomes will enable SIBN to maintain the quality of our services in a changing health care environment," said Steven Scher, Executive Director, SIBN and Senior Vice President, ICL. "At SIBN, we have long been champions of quality, integrated medical and behavioral health care services. We are eager to leverage ICL's tremendous resources and expertise to provide better care and have a greater impact in our clients' treatment and recovery."
SIBN is ICL's fifth affiliate program. Other ICL affiliates include Pennsylvania Institute for Community Living (PICL), Phoenix Janitorial & Maintenance Services, ICL/Joselow House and Guidance Center of Brooklyn (GCB).
