IBM Achieves Highest Growth Among Top Three Storage Vendors
ARMONK, N.Y., March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) outdistanced storage vendors EMC and HP in revenue growth in the fourth quarter of 2009, according to new external disk storage systems market share data released by IDC.

According to the report, IBM grew external disk storage systems revenue 9 percent year-over-year during the quarter while the overall market decreased by 0.7 percent. EMC was essentially flat and HP's revenue fell 7.3 percent during the quarter, according to IDC.
IBM holds 14.2 percent full-year 2009 revenue share of the external disk storage systems market to HP's 11.7 percent, according to IDC.
IBM also saw gains in the Windows and Linux OS segments in 2009, including a 24 percent gain in Linux storage in a market that was down 4 percent.
