Hurricane Harvey Relief Fundraiser Saturday Sept. 2
Bloomfield Hills Swim & Tennis Club to open facilities to public this Saturday to raise funds for families impacted by historic Texas floods
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., Aug. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bloomfield Hills Swim and Tennis Club (BHSAT) is opening the club to the general public this Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 from noon until 5 p.m., as a fundraiser to help those individuals and families impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.
Admission will be $25 per family, which will be used to purchase $25 gift cards to Home Depot, Lowes and Walmart and then sent to Texas flood victims. There also will be several giveaway drawings, including a free party for 20 people at the Bloomfield Hills Swim & Tennis Club during the 2018 season.
BHSAT will send the gift cards purchased with donations to U.S. Congressman Randy Weber, Texas 14th District, for distribution. The district extends through some of the hardest hit communities in Texas, extending from Lake Jackson in the south up the Texas coast through Galveston County and parts of Beaumont and Port Arthur.
"It was Labor Day weekend last year that our family relocated to Michigan from Houston, and we feel extremely fortunate to have avoided Hurricane Harvey," said David Roznowski, BHSAT marketing director. "If we were still there we would have been flooded and may have experienced a massive loss, like many of our Houston neighbors and friends."
According to BHSAT General Manager Beth Kalusniak, the club hopes to raise a few thousand dollars. "We figured by opening the club we could give the public an easy and enjoyable way to help recovery efforts while enjoying our facilities."
The Bloomfield Hills Swim & Tennis Club is located on west bound Square Lake Road between the I-75 interchange and Woodward Avenue. The address is 251 E Square Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills. For more information, visit www.bhsat.org or call 248-633-8586.
