TEMECULA, Calif., Feb. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Hop-on, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: HPNN) today announced the first "World Tourism Phone" available through its subsidiary, Hop-on Mobile, S. DE R.L. DE C.V. The phone is provisioned with a U.S. and Mexican phone numbers that are tied into the local or roaming partners in the area in which the phone is being used. That means, local law enforcement can be contacted immediately throughout Mexico.
Peter Michaels CEO of Hop-on stated, "This weekend in Puerto Vallarta highlighted the need for immediate communication for international travelers, the gunmen stole the passengers' valuables -- including cameras and money -- before fleeing. No one was reported to have been hurt during the robbery. Our product provides important communications when emergencies happen in foreign countries. Tourists need immediate access to emergency communications in Mexico and elsewhere. The Carnival Cruise's 22 tourists robbed in Mexico bus assault event in Mexico show the importance of communicating with, staying connected to family, friends and business contacts outside Mexico. Hop-on's e-911 service provides users with emergency contact 24 hours a day."
"In connection with the successful launch of its MVNE (Mobile Virtual Network Enabler) program into the Mexican Market, Hop-on Mobile Mexico is moving swiftly to address tourism safety." In addition to providing international travelers with Hop-on phones for making calls to loved ones back home or use them as a business solution, Hop-on's services include e-911. "This crucial service can assist travelers in contacting police and emergency responders when faced with accidents or criminal activity while traveling throughout Mexico and other international locations," Michaels said.
Current Hop on customers traveling in Mexico should become familiar with the e-911 service provided and assure themselves e-911 service is provided in the area they are traveling in. Hop-on provides its e-911 service free of airtime charges. Even if users have used up all of their airtime, they are still protected with the ability to contact emergency responders.
Hop-on, through its Cancun customer connections, is working to bring its "World Tourism Phone" to other areas of Mexico. According to Michaels, expansion of the "World Tourism Phone" was already underway, but the pace has been accelerated by recent events and the travel industry's desire to protect tourists visiting Mexico. "Our customers are anxious and excited to rapidly expand this service beyond Cancun," said Michaels.
