hoopla digital Adds eBooks to Growing Content Collection
Ahead of BEA 2014, category-creating service shares plan to add eBooks this year to more than 170,000 titles in music, movies, TV shows and audiobooks
HOLLAND, Ohio, May. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- After 25 years of providing physical editions of movies, television shows, music albums, and more recently, audiobooks, Midwest Tape today announced that eBooks will be added to its hoopla digital platform later this year. hoopla digital currently offers participating libraries and their patrons over 170,000 titles in music, movies, TV shows, and audiobooks through its state-of-the-art app and website.
"Since our launch last summer, hoopla digital has significantly expanded our library partnerships, patron reach and content deals. Our growth has included public library systems in major markets such as Toronto, Seattle, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco. We're thrilled by the response to the service and excited to add eBooks to our offering," said hoopla digital founder and Midwest Tape Vice President, Jeff Jankowski.
hoopla digital's transactional-based model allows for all eBook titles to be available all the time, with the publisher being compensated each time a title is read. "All titles are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week," said Jankowski. "Through the hoopla digital platform, publishers will now have the opportunity to showcase backlist and midlist titles, as they do their frontlist; financially benefiting from all transactions."
hoopla digital currently has content agreements in place with Hollywood studios and record companies including Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Starz Media, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, BBC Worldwide North America (U.S.), National Geographic and PBS, to name a few. The hoopla digital team is meeting with publishers and will be onsite at the 2014 BEA conference (Booth # 1239) to demo the service and discuss upcoming plans.
"There has been a strong eBook demand from library patrons and as we break new ground in mobile access and patron reach across North America, we will continue to advance our best-of-breed technology, while transforming the library experience with mobile access to the latest movies, TV shows, documentaries, educational videos and now eBooks," said Jankowski.
To begin using the hoopla digital, library-card holders can download the free hoopla digital mobile app on their Android or IOS device or visit hoopladigital.com. The service is only available to patrons of participating public libraries.
