HOCHTIEF Concessions Enters North American PPP Market
First Contract Secured: Company to Design, Finance, Build and Operate Ten Schools in Alberta-Investment Volume Approximately CAD 82 Million
ESSEN, Germany, April 23, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- HOCHTIEF Concessions has won its first contract for a public-private partnership (PPP) project in North America. Via subsidiary HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions North America, the company was commissioned to design, finance, build and subsequently maintain ten schools in Canada's Alberta province. HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions has a 50 percent share in the project company Build to Learn. The project with a term of 30 years has a contract volume of CAD 328.5 million. The investment volume adds up to approximately CAD 82 million.

The PPP markets in Canada and the USA, Lutkestratkotter says, are on an upward trend and offer HOCHTIEF excellent growth opportunities in the Social Infrastructure and Roads segments. Flatiron already is engaged in PPP projects in Canada as subcontractor. The three companies will work the growth market in close liaison and seize the available opportunities.
Construction works for the ten new schools will take 27 months. Five of the locations are in Calgary, three in Edmonton. One school each will be built in Okotoks and Langdon. In future, some 8,000 students are to receive teaching at the ten educational facilities.
