The Bowling Industry Welcomed Former Two-Term President and Texas Governor Who Spoke with Attendees at the Premier International Convention
ORLANDO, Fla., June 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A milestone in the 3,000 year history of bowling was made today when former U.S. President George W. Bush stepped to the stage at the 2014 International Bowl Expo (IBE). The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) invited the two-term president and former Texas governor to participate in a roundtable discussion at this year's Bowl Expo at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida.
"Bowling is fun and it's a great family sport," said former President of the United States George W. Bush. "We used to have a lot of fun bowling at Camp David. Growing up as a kid in Midland, Texas, I remember going with my mother and dad to bowl in Odessa, Texas, and it was always a great family event."
"It was with tremendous pride and honor that we welcomed President Bush to this year's Bowl Expo. President Bush is one of the most influential individuals of our time and his presence at our annual meeting reflects the enduring popularity, impact and cultural relevance of bowling," said Cathy DeSocio, BPAA President.
As one of America's most beloved pastimes, bowling has seen a tremendous resurgence in popularity in recent years. A $10 billion industry, bowling is ranked as the number one participatory sport in the nation with 69 million people taking to the lanes every year. IBE is the premier bowling industry event, hosting thousands of bowling center owners/operators and industry leaders from around the world each year.
"As a former U.S. president, governor and successful business and sports team owner, George W. Bush brought tremendous perspective on the qualities and attributes that make a great leader and spoke about them in a manner that applies to everyday business owners," added DeSocio. "Attendees at this year's Bowl Expo had an opportunity to both witness history and gain valuable insights from a world leader."
The International Bowl Expo 2014 is currently taking place from June 22-26, 2014 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Additional information can be found at www.bowlexpo.com.
