Historic Conference Held by The Black Ivy Alumni League
Premier Black Ivy League Organization to host Inaugural Conference in Miami
NEW YORK and MIAMI, Feb. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Black Ivy Alumni League (BIAL) the premier organization bringing together black students and alumni from all eight Ivy League schools, is hosting its inaugural National Conference entitled "A 21st Century Re-education" at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami, Florida September 27- 30, 2012. The conference will bring together 1,500 alumni plus 100 corporations, non-profit organizations and entrepreneurs looking to hire and market to the growing sector of black, Ivy League alumni around the world.
The BIAL conference will focus on four pillars; scholarship, entrepreneurship leadership, and politics, and will discuss how these four elements shape what it means to be a black professional in the 21st century. Speakers will include world leaders, senior executives and some of the country's best and brightest academic innovators. This unique combination of both academic and professional leaders will provide a rich backdrop upon which to address issues surrounding identity, responsibility and progress.
"The Black Ivy Alumni League is the only organization of its kind, has well over 5,000 members and hosts events in ten cities across the country," said Maisha Walker, National President, The Black Ivy Alumni League. "Now is the time to bring everyone together to view our opportunities through a productive new lens; to understand the black American past and present in business, politics, education and leadership in order to shape the future now and for subsequent generations of Americans."
To commemorate this historic event and celebrate Black History Month, BIAL is launching a major initiative to create a documentary (http://www.youtube.com/user/BlackIvyAlumniLeague) sharing the stories of Black, Ivy League alumni and is launching its new YouTube channel to invite individual alumni to submit video testimonials about their Ivy League experiences. These videos will be incorporated into the documentary that will debut at the conference in September.
To kick-off the conference BIAL will be hosting a series of kickoff events in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, and D.C. starting in March. The conference is open to all Ivy League alumni, supporters and friends.

THE BLACK IVY ALUMNI LEAGUE has established itself as the alumni network for Black Ivy Leaguers, hosting substantive programs, developing scholarship funds, promoting black businesses and leadership, all while fostering a community within and beyond our alumni base. Despite our short history, our potential has begun to be tapped through a series of successful events and newly established corporate relationships.
