Himfr: Imported Leather Prices Soaring

Himfr reports that since April of last year, prices of imported raw leather continued to rise, the lowest price since last year's 30 U.S. dollars/piece, now between 70 U.S. dollars-80 U.S. dollar/piece.

Himfr analyzes that since the second half of last year, Himfr received a number of orders that at higher prices, but as some of the imports of raw material prices are increasing, leather corporate profit margins seem to be compressed.

Low-grade leather is generally at least 5 U.S. dollars/piece. Some even at 8 U.S. dollars, but these cannot attract buyers. Despite the shortage of leather, European buyers are still not giving up the fight over leather prices. Only Italian buyers show a number of procurement needs.

If the cowhide prices continue to rise, a new round of price adjustments is inevitable, but the question is when the market will enter the inflection point. From the current situation, at the end of the Spring Festival, cattle slaughtering will be at a low, so leather prices will continue to be very strong. Now that this low time has passed, the short supply situation may be easing.
