This reduces side effects while maintaining excellent cancer outcomes."
With the Sonablate HIFU, Dr. Gapin is able to treat men with less risk of common prostate cancer treatment side effects such as urinary incontinence and erective dysfunction. Men recover quickly from the procedure and return to their normal activities. "My patients who have undergone HIFU are amazed at how quickly they are able to return to their routine daily life," said Dr. Gapin.
The Sonablate is the first FDA-approved device to receive regulatory authorization for the ablation of prostate tissue using HIFU. While somewhat new to the United States market, Sonablate has been used in international prostate cancer treatment centers in over 30 countries.
