LISLE, Ill., Oct. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For the fourth consecutive year, Healthy Ones, the deli and lunchmeat brand, is partnering with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Healthy Ones wants consumers to know, "You Can" support Breast Cancer Research and is making it easy for them to do so.
Through the month of October, in grocery stores across the country, consumers can look for the pink packaging of Healthy Ones tub lunchmeat along with pink signage at the deli counter. Healthy Ones will donate 5 cents per tub of lunchmeat and 5 cents per pound of deli meat sold during the month of October to BCRF, up to a maximum donation of $50,000 for all participating products.
The donation is in addition to the already $20,000 raised through, "Pedal For a Great Cause," an open-to-all, high-energy stationary bike pedaling event created by Healthy Ones. For each minute pedaled by a participant, a $5 donation is made by Healthy Ones to BCRF, up to $10,000. This year, Healthy Ones has hosted the open to all pedal events in the cities of Chicago and Boise.
Healthy Ones has now donated over $150,000 to the BCRF in less than five years.
"We strongly believe people want to make a difference through their purchases," said Elizabeth Di John, Healthy Ones brand manager. "We want to help empower them to do so by making a difference in the fight against breast cancer through our support of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. We're proud of our partnership and the difference we're all making."
Healthy Ones will communicate the 'You Can Support Breast Cancer Research' campaign message to consumers through its Facebook page with fact-based messaging including video links from BCRF and other social media content to educate consumers about breast cancer research. In addition, Healthy Ones will sample at select locations and hand out coupons to its consumers.
"We feel it's important to support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and its mission," said Chuck Gitkin, John Morrell Food Group vice president of marketing, innovation and R&D. "We feel that the people who purchase Healthy Ones have that same belief. That is why we're making it easy for them to look for the pink branding of Healthy Ones in the deli and lunchmeat sections at their local grocer. We want them to feel good about their purchase and that their efforts are supporting breast cancer research."
