BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Dec. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- HealthSouth Corporation (NYSE:HLS) today announced the appointment of Patrick Darby as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. He replaces John Whittington, who earlier this year announced his retirement after serving in this capacity for the past nine and a half years. Darby will begin his new role in mid-February 2016.

Darby has practiced law with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP for 25 years, and has been a partner at the firm since January 1997. He is listed in Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America and Alabama Super Lawyers. He received his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and earned his law degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the Washington & Lee Law Review.
