HealthSaaS and DocLogic Announce Strategic Alliance to Integrate Patient Home Monitoring and Telehealth Services
HealthSaaS and DocLogic have announced a strategic collaboration to deliver health monitoring information directly into live online encounters between physicians and patients, bringing together DocLogic's Telemedicine Solution and the HealthSaaS Connected Outcomes Framework.
PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The agreement with DocLogic will include integration of the HealthSaaS Connected Outcomes Framework allowing doctors and their patients to incorporate biometric devices and mobile applications to improve the efficacy of remote monitoring and Telehealth encounters.
DocLogic connects patients with physicians and other providers for immediate, live online visits using two-way video, secure email, and/or the phone. Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) will be integrated and combines a global network of certified on-call interpreters. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires hospitals to provide effective communication with patients who are deaf or are Limited English proficient (LEP).
Patients and caregivers can track chronic disease and other health information with connected Bluetooth and GSM glucose meters, blood pressure cuffs, WiFi scales, sleep monitoring devices, peak flow meters, pedometers and select mobile applications. HealthSaaS technology makes the information readily available to physicians caring for patients using the DocLogic service and can send data to EHR systems.
"Physicians will be able to review biometric and mobile gathered data alongside patient history as part of each visit. Physicians can then diagnose, prescribe medications, track treatment plans and monitor outcomes" states Frank Ille, CEO of HealthSaaS. "Through our relationship with DocLogic, we are now taking critical patient information and bringing it directly into phone, video and internet based care encounters.
"We're excited to be a part of a comprehensive, portable, real time Telemedicine solution. Our collaboration with HealthSaaS allows us to place the patient at the center of this service, while delivering a cost containment alternative at a time when rising healthcare costs and access to physicians are at the forefront of everyone's concerns" says Dana Shaffer, President of DocLogic, LLC.
This joint offering will be made commercially available in Q2 of 2012.
Telehealth services are a key component of the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) strategy. Telehealth and PCMH promote a team-based approach to the care of a patient through a spectrum of medical conditions and are delivered in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner. The medical home model is anticipated to improve access, reduce unnecessary care, improve outcomes, and lead to higher patient satisfaction. Health care reform is driving the move to the Telehealth and PCMH model, which helps enable the success of Accountable Care Organizations.
