SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthcare Quality Catalyst Corp. (www.hqcatalyst.com), the leader in healthcare data warehousing, today announced a series of important events since September 2011 to continue driving the company's substantial growth and industry leadership.
On September 23, 2011, Healthcare Quality Catalyst (HQC) announced the selection of Sequoia Capital as its investment partner. The funds from Sequoia Capital's investment in HQC will be used to accelerate HQC's aggressive growth strategy by making its clinical data warehouse more widely available and developing additional software to expand care improvement for health systems. Michael Dixon, Partner at Sequoia Capital, will join HQC's Board of Directors.

DR. DAVID BURTON SELECTED AS CEO
On October 3, 2011, Dr. David Burton was selected as Chief Executive Officer of HQC. Dr. Burton brings more than three decades of clinical and leadership experience to his position at the helm of HQC. Dr. Burton will focus on building out the management team and expanding the product line.

Dr. Burton has been involved with HQC from day one as a member of its Advisory Board, leading the effort to develop the company's data warehouse from a clinical perspective. Dr. Burton is a former Senior Vice President of Intermountain Healthcare, where he served in a variety of executive positions for 23 years. He spent the last 13 years of his career co-developing Intermountain's clinical process models utilized within the EDW environment. Dr. Burton was the founding CEO of Intermountain's managed care plans (now known as SelectHealth), which currently provide insurance coverage to approximately 500,000 members.
He holds an MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and did his residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Internal Medicine. He was a charter member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and was Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. He practiced emergency medicine and was president of a single-specialty group of 20 emergency care physicians for nine years before joining the executive team at Intermountain.

DALE SANDERS JOINS AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
On November 1, 2011, Dale Sanders joined Healthcare Quality Catalyst (HQC) as a Senior Vice President. Mr. Sanders brings more than 28 years of experience leading IT organizations and initiatives, 14 of which are in healthcare. Mr. Sanders will play a number of strategic roles including developing new HQC products and providing thought leadership for customers and prospects.

He also served as a CIO with the Northwestern University Medical Center and Regional Director of Medical Informatics at Intermountain Healthcare.

LARRY GRANDIA APPOINTED TO HQC'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS
On November 10, 2011, Healthcare Quality Catalyst (HQC) announced the election of Larry Grandia to its board of directors. Mr. Grandia brings more than 40 years of business and technology leadership experience to the HQC board.

He earlier held positions at IBM and at a regional healthcare management engineering and consulting firm.
