AURORA, Colo., Oct. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- HCA-HealthONE® has announced the appointment of Dan Miller as President and Chief Executive Officer of The Medical Center of Aurora (TMCA). Miller takes over in this leadership role today.
Miller replaces Richard Hammett, who left TMCA in August after being named CEO at Swedish Medical Center.
Sylvia Young, President and CEO of the HealthONE system, said, "The Medical Center of Aurora is a leading facility for the entire metro area. Dan will join an excellent team there and will build upon TMCA's success and the high standard the facility has set."
The new position for Miller is a reflection of the results he has achieved at Swedish, including the opening of a new Burn Critical Care Unit and Outpatient Clinic earlier this year. He also led the development of the comprehensive cancer program allowing Swedish to become the third hospital in the country to be pancreatic cancer accredited and the fifth in the country to be lung cancer accredited by The Joint Commission. Additionally, Miller has overseen multiple neuroscience construction projects, OR projects and Women's Services renovations.
Miller moves to his role as CEO after 12 years with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) serving in various administrative roles. He received his Bachelor of Science in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and his Masters of Science in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
"I am excited and honored to be chosen as CEO of The Medical Center of Aurora," said Miller. "I'm looking forward to working with the talented staff and physicians as we continue to provide excellent patient care to the community."
At TMCA, Miller will oversee the medical center's four campuses, which include two freestanding ERs (Centennial Medical Plaza and Saddle Rock ER), and an array of services, including a Level II Trauma Center, and a comprehensive cardiovascular program with two accredited Chest Pain Centers and a new TAVR program starting in late October. In addition, TMCA is a Joint Commission Accredited Primary Stroke Center, and the HealthONE Behavioral Health Services hospital.
