Limehouse comes to Southern Strategy Group after having served S.C. Governor Mark Sanford as Secretary of Transportation and S.C. Department of Transportation (SCDOT), Limehouse focused his efforts on improving the overall quality of transportation in S.C. by overseeing several major road and infrastructure projects throughout the State. In 1997, he helped establish the South Carolina Infrastructure Bank Act to further the completion of larger transportation projects, and thereby allow the SCDOT to devote resources to other important transportation projects.
Following his tenure on the SCDOT Commission, Limehouse took his governmental, public-private relations expertise and consulted for the Georgia Department of Transportation beginning in 2002. While consulting with the State of Georgia he provided additional management expertise as requested by Governor Roy Barnes on a project-by-project basis.
After two years of working with the State of Georgia, Limehouse returned to South Carolina. In 2007 the SCDOT Commission asked him to assume the position of Executive Director. Shortly thereafter, state law was changed to create the position of Secretary of Transportation. Governor Mark Sanford asked Limehouse to become South Carolina's first Secretary of Transportation where he served in the position until February 2011.
Today, Limehouse continues to serve South Carolinians through his business consulting in transportation and infrastructure. In addition, he is often a panelist or speaker at national forums on the development of state infrastructure banks and public transportation issues.
