Harry Jacobson, M.D. Joins MedSolutions' Board of Directors

FRANKLIN, Tenn., Feb. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MedSolutions (www.medsolutions.com), a leading provider of medical cost management services, has appointed Harry R. Jacobson, M.D. to its board of directors.  

Dr. Jacobson is vice chancellor for health affairs, emeritus at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. Prior to his retirement in June 2009, he functioned as chief executive officer of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which includes the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, a health care system comprised of four hospitals, a network of ambulatory care facilities, and a large faculty group practice. Vanderbilt's adult and children's hospitals are widely recognized among the country's top hospitals.

A former chief of nephrology for the U.S. Army, Dr. Jacobson is also co-founder of Renal Care Group, a dialysis service company listed on the New York Stock Exchange until it was acquired by Fresenius in 2006. Board-certified in both internal medicine and nephrology, he has published more than 100 research articles, reviews and book chapters, and is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the prestigious Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. He also serves on the board of directors of Merck, Kinetic Concepts, Ingram Industries and several early-stage companies in the health care field.
