HACU Presents 2011 Awards at Its National Conference in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Oct. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU), the only national association representing Hispanic-Serving Institutions, will present Awards of Excellence on October 30-31, during its 25th Annual Conference at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio, 600 E. Market Street, San Antonio, Texas 78205.
During the Power Lunch on Sun., Oct. 30 from noon – 1:30 p.m., the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will receive the Outstanding HACU Public Sector Partner Award in recognition of excellent support by a governmental organization.
Several awards will be presented at the Partnership Luncheon on Mon., Oct. 31 from noon – 1:30 p.m. to the following:
- Henry Cisneros will receive the HACU Lifelong Leadership Award for his lifelong service to Hispanic higher education.
- Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) will receive the Outstanding HACU-Member Institution award for excellence in its support of HACU. OLLU is the institution where HACU was founded in May 1986.
- The Lumina Foundation will receive the Extraordinary Philanthropic Partner Award in recognition of its outstanding support of HACU.
- ARAMARK will receive the Outstanding HACU Private Sector Partner Award in recognition of its extraordinary support of HACU's mission.
The Exemplary International HACU-Member Institution Award will be presented at the International Plenary Session at 9 a.m. on Mon., Oct. 31.
The following awards will be presented at a later date:
- The Honorable Jeff Bingaman, U.S. Senator representing New Mexico, will receive the Exemplary Policy/Advocacy Leadership for his outstanding leadership and advocacy efforts.
- The Honorable Hilda L. Solis, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor, will receive the President's Award of Excellence for her exemplary leadership in advancing HACU's organizational development.
The HACU Awards of Excellence are presented annually to recognize individuals, institutions, and organizations within the public and private sector that have helped advance HACU's mission of championing Hispanic success in higher education.
