NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* today announced that industry veteran Joe Larussa is retiring as Vice President and General Manager of the Gulf States. In this role, Joe was responsible for overseeing the sales and operations for more than 2,000 employees, 133 AT&T-owned retail locations and more than 700 national retail partners and authorized retailers across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Northwest Florida.

Prior to his current role, Larussa served the company in numerous leadership positions, including Regional Vice President for BellSouth Cellular, and General Manager roles in Lafayette, Louisiana, Central Louisiana and Tennessee. In those positions, Larussa earned numerous company awards for excellence in sales results and customer service.
Larussa joined BellSouth Mobility in 1986 as a sales executive in Lafayette after earning sales management experience in a variety of industries. He was named Vice President and General Manager of the Gulf States in 1998.
Larussa has long been active in many civic and professional organizations. His particular focus is on youth education and leadership development. Larussa has supported Junior Achievement with "job-shadowing" and sponsorships of the Louisiana Legacy Golf Tournament that benefits the Baton Rouge Chapter. He also has served on the Board of Directors for the University of New Orleans, Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and the Boys and Girls Club of America. Larussa also supported United Way and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as well as serving as a member of the Rotary Club.
A native of Louisiana, Larussa was raised in Baton Rouge and majored in Business Administration at Louisiana State University. He and his wife, Kathy, are the proud parents of a daughter and son, both LSU graduates. The Larussas will remain in Louisiana.
