GreenScreen Animals Announces New Working Partnership with the American Humane Association
New Collaboration Further Protects Animal Actors And Ensures Productions Meet Strict Guidelines
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- GreenScreen Animals (GSA), the Los Angeles-based digital content company, today announced its HD stock footage animal content is now being monitored by the American Humane Association, the only national organization dedicated to protecting animals from abuse and neglect in filmed media. This oversight will enable producers and brand markets to have full confidence that their animal footage was obtained in a safe and sustainable way.
American Humane is the only animal welfare organization in the world with on-set jurisdiction from the Screen Actors Guild to supervise the use of animals. The organization is also the only authority to issue the renowned "No Animals Were Harmed"® end-credit disclaimer.
GSA provides an alternative to employing live animals for commercial production that was simply not available in the past. "This is a win-win," said Karen Rosa, Vice President of American Humane's Film & Television Unit. "The animals benefit because they are photographed in a protected, low-stress environment. For the industry, it provides dynamic and engaging animal content in a safe and affordable way. Moreover, this will result in more commercial productions employing the beauty of live animals within a humane environment."
By the merger of art, technology and nature, one can now show a live tiger in New York City without the animal ever having to travel or risk human contact. This is an incredible achievement with real benefits for all involved. It also makes the footage accessible to a broader market, as cost is no longer a restriction. "Humane treatment of animals is our number one priority," said Westley Koenen Co-Founder of GreenScreen Animals. "We hope that increased exposure of these animals to the public will amplify outreach and support for both domestic and exotic animals."
GSA's latest production incorporated many new animals including an African white rhinoceros, penguins, Bengal tiger and a variety of dog breeds. GSA's increasing commitment to the humane treatment of animals is a perfect fit with the mission of American Humane's Film & Television Unit, which has been the safety and welfare of animals in filmed media since 1940. Over the past two years since GSA was founded their content has been used in award-winning ad campaigns, TV, film and viral videos.
