Greensburg, Kansas Hair Salon Re-Opens 3 Years After Tornado

GREENSBURG, Kan., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- On Monday June 14th, BIOLAGE and Peel's Salon Services executed an exciting initiative to aid in celebrating the rebirth of Greensburg, Kansas – a town that on May 4, 2007, along with the surrounding Kiowa County, was devastated by an EF5 tornado that destroyed 95% of the city. Half of the city's population left after the tornado, the other half stayed, 100% committed to rebuilding Greensburg.

Over the past three years, the town has undergone a massive rebuild – resulting in a bigger, better, GREENER Greensburg. On June 14th 2010, the town celebrated their renaissance with a day-long festival of activities involving the community and all of Kiowa County.

Peel's Salon Services, with the partnership of BIOLAGE, Xenon International School of Hair Design, Kaemark, and European Touch, hosted Makeover Greensburg at The Last Tangle salon on the town's Main Street, in celebration of the salon's long-awaited reopening by owner, Greensburg local Debbie Boyle.

Residents of Greensburg and Kiowa County were invited to get a complimentary haircut & make-up consultation from members of the Matrix Artistic Design Team and Xenon School of Hair Design.

"We are so thrilled to be able to celebrate how far we've come as a community. So much hard work and love has been put into this rebuild – now this is our chance to give back to everyone who has selflessly helped put ourselves back together," said Boyle.

All cut hair was collected and donated to A Matter of Trust, a non-profit organization that creates products from recycled hair used to soak up oil spills.
