Greenplum Software Applies 'MAD Skills' to Attain Significant Milestones in 2009

SAN MATEO, Calif., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Greenplum Software, the pioneer of Enterprise Data Cloud™ solutions for large-scale data warehousing and analytics, today announced that the company achieved two significant milestones in 2009: the signing of a major OEM partnership with Silver Spring Networks and year-over-year bookings growth of 100 percent. This growth can be directly attributed to Greenplum's application of "MAD Skills" analytics to more quickly derive substantive results and greater business value from the massive amounts of data that businesses must manage today. Applying MAD Skills

MAD Skills analytics refers to "magnetic, agile and deep" – three characteristics of Greenplum's philosophy and approach to data warehousing and analytics. Smart grid platform provider Silver Spring Networks is using the analytics technology to help parse data from millions of smart meters deployed at its utility clients. Greenplum and the BeyeNetwork recently conducted a study on MAD Skills analytics entitled, "The MAD Skills Survey."  Findings from this survey will be released on February 16, 2010, but the research conducted suggests that a majority of respondents feel that the performance of their current database solutions hinders their ability to do their job, and that those solutions do not fully capture the value of the data generated. The respondents also noted that they believe it is not realistic to unify everything in a single enterprise database.
