-- Move strengthens collaboration with partners, including support for game developers worldwide --
BURLINGAME, Calif., Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- GREE, Japan's leading mobile social gaming platform, today announced that it will establish subsidiaries in five countries including Korea, Singapore, U.K., Netherlands, and Brazil. The new overseas operations will enhance local business collaboration and help with development and support for local game developers.
GREE has been rapidly expanding internationally as the smartphone market continues to grow, and established its US subsidiary, GREE International, in January 2011. In April, GREE acquired OpenFeint, which manages the world's largest cross platform social gaming network with over 115 million users worldwide. GREE also has plans to establish its first Chinese subsidiary, GREE Beijing, for development and strategic alliance purposes.
Currently, GREE has a social mobile gaming operation in Japan, in addition to platform businesses in North America, Asia, and Europe, through OpenFeint. Combined, GREE's robust network reaches over 140 million users worldwide. The new operations in Korea, Singapore, U.K., Netherlands, and Brazil will help to accelerate GREE's plan to expand its global footprint.
