GrapeCity Releases ActiveReports 10 with a New Tablix Data Region and Style Sheets
Generate Quality Reports for All Business Needs with the ActiveReports 10 .NET Reporting Platform
RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- GrapeCity, the largest component solution provider in the Microsoft Visual Studio Partner ecosystem, today announced the release of ActiveReports 10. ActiveReports 10 is an empowering .NET reporting solution that integrates with Microsoft Visual Studio.
"ActiveReports 10 offers its users a comprehensive collection of data visualization controls with server and designer capabilities for HTML5, WPF, Windows Forms, ASP.NET and Windows Azure development," said Bhupesh Malhotra, product manager at GrapeCity. "For this latest release of ActiveReports we added a new Tablix data region, Style Sheets and a host of other features," said Malhotra.
ActiveReports 10 includes a new Tablix data region which allows for everything from simple tabular data representation to complex matrix and pivots. "The Tablix data region starts where the Matrix data region left off. It brings the ability to add adjacent rows and columns to cross tab representation of data with an array of formatting features like merging columns and rows," said Malhotra.
ActiveReports also introduces style sheets for RDL and Page reports. These allow developers to keep report formatting consistent. Style sheets can be embedded or referenced from external files, enabling developers to change the look of whole sets of reports for different customers with a few lines of code. "This is one example of how the latest version of ActiveReports enables developers to address many customers with one set of reports," stated Malhotra.
When designing reports with ActiveReports, developers can now use server-based Shared Data Sources and Shared Data Sets to leverage the server-side functionality, including role-based security, offered by ActiveReports Server. Developers and Admins can achieve the level of data governance and isolation that is a must in large organizations today. "We created Server Data Sources and Server Data Sets to help developers segregate the report layout design from the report query design and promote ad-hoc reporting while keeping a handle on data governance even while using the End User Designer controls," said Malhotra.
Runtime performance enhancements in the new ActiveReports 10 delivers the first-page preview of reports substantially faster than earlier versions. "Our tests show up to 20% faster report exporting. Further, with WinForms and WPF report viewers allowing execution of reports from the server, developers are able to use these features in existing applications without using the web platform," said Malhotra.
The ActiveReports 10 release includes other key highlights, including a new DocX Rendering Engine with focus on a more natural formatted and automated Word file output, new HTML5 Administrator Dashboard and Report Portal for the Server, and a RESTful API for developers.
