The awards are presented to top gaming properties for their innovative marketing strategies performed during the previous year.
With more than 120 entries this year, the Romero Awards are the gaming industry's largest, most representative, and arguably toughest competition, recognizing and rewarding creative excellence in the art of marketing. A panel of accomplished executives in the gaming industry judged the awards based on the marketing or promotion concept, strategic rationale and execution, measurable results, the competitive advantage provided to the casino, and the relationship of the promotion to the casino's customers, employees and community.
Nomination categories included six types of promotions: direct mail marketing (single or campaign), community relations campaign, casino floor promotion, VIP promotion, e-mail/mobile marketing, and website marketing. Entries were also divided by casino size, to help ensure a fair playing field.
