Governor Rendell Signs Execution Warrants for Cam Ly, Shonda Walter
HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today signed execution warrants for Cam Ly, 49, and Shonda Walter, 30.
Ly was sentenced in February 1988 for the murder of Jade Wong in August 1983 after she refused to pay "protection" money to Ly and his Asian mob partners. Jade was the manager of the Ho Sai Gai restaurant in Philadelphia's Chinatown section.
Ly is incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution at Greene.
In April 2005, Walter was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death for brutally attacking her neighbor James Sementelli with a hatchet so she could steal and sell his car to pay off debts and gain entry into the Bloods street gang in Lock Haven. Sementelli was an 83-year-old World War II veteran.
Walter is an inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Muncy.
Ly's execution by lethal injection is set for Tuesday, April 20. Walter's is scheduled for Thursday, April 22.
With the warrants signed today, Governor Rendell has now signed 103 execution warrants.
