Governor Rendell Orders Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Sgt. Nathan P. Kennedy of Claysville
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today ordered all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and on commonwealth facilities in Washington County to be flown at half-staff in honor of Sgt. Nathan P. Kennedy, a U.S. Army Ranger from Claysville.
Authorities said Sgt. Kennedy, 24, was killed in action April 27 while serving in Afghanistan, where he began a tour in June 2009. He had served in Iraq from 2006-2007. He was a sniper assigned to 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
Flags will remain at half-staff through sunset on Sunday, May 9.
