Governor Rendell Orders Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Airman First Class Austin H. Gates Benson
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today ordered all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and on commonwealth facilities in Northampton County to be flown at half-staff in honor of Airman First Class Austin H. Gates Benson, of Hellertown.
Authorities said Airman Benson, 19, was killed while serving on active duty in Afghanistan. He was assigned to a combat communications unit and was attached to the 54th Combat Communications Squadron at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.
Flags will remain at half-staff through sunset on Friday, May 14.
