Governor Rendell Orders Flags at Capitol, Berks County to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Sen. Michael A. O'Pake
HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 27, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today ordered all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities in Berks County to be flown at half-staff in honor of Sen. Michael A. O'Pake, who died today in Reading Hospital.
Sen. O'Pake served as a member of the Pennsylvania Senate since 1972 representing the 11th Senatorial District which covers the city of Reading and surrounding areas in Berks County. O'Pake also served in the state House of Representatives from 1968 to 1972, making him the longest-serving member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
Flags should remain at half-staff until his interment.
