Governor Rendell Offers Condolences on Death of Rep. Robert Donatucci; Orders Flags Lowered
HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell offered his condolences to the family and friends of Rep. Robert C. Donatucci, who died in his sleep this morning at his home in south Philadelphia.
"Rep. Donatucci was a gentleman -- and a gentle man -- who devoted his life to his family and public service. He was a loyal Democrat who also understood that to govern is to compromise," Governor Rendell said. "He will be remembered for his ability to reach across the aisle to form consensus in the best interest of all Pennsylvanians."
Rep. Donatucci, 58, had served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since 1980 and represented the 185th House District in Philadelphia and Delaware counties. He was majority chair of the House Liquor Control Committee and was a member of the House Committee on Ethics.
Donatucci is survived by his wife, Maria, and two adult children.
Governor Rendell ordered that state and U.S. flags at the state Capitol in Harrisburg and in the 185th House District should be flown at half-staff until his interment. Funeral arrangements were not immediately announced.
