Governor Rendell Comments on House Speaker McCall's Planned Retirement
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today reacted to Pennsylvania House Speaker Keith McCall's announcement that he will not seek reelection to the House of Representatives.
"Keith McCall will be sorely missed in Harrisburg. For a long time he has been a leader in moving the progressive agenda forward to help meet Pennsylvania's challenges," the Governor said. "In his brief tenure as Speaker, he did a terrific job. His departure from the House will be a very significant loss."
McCall was first elected to represent a legislative district in Carbon County in 1982, and was elected by House members as Speaker for the current legislative session that began in January 2009.
