Governor Corbett Issues Flag Order to Honor World War II Airmen
HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett has ordered U.S. and Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg to fly at half-staff on Friday, Oct. 28 to honor two World War II airmen whose remains were recently returned to the United States.
Army Air Forces 2nd Lt. Thomas Digman Jr., of Pittsburgh, and Staff Sgt. Joseph J. Karaso, of Philadelphia, died in April 1944 when their plane went down during an Allied bombing raid over Germany.
Their remains were recently returned to the U.S. for burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
All Pennsylvanians are invited to join in this tribute.
