Governor Corbett Appoints Four Members to Philadelphia Regional Port Authority
HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett today announced he has appointed Charles Kopp, Boise Butler III, John Soroko and James Shacklett III to four-year terms on the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, or PRPA.
Kopp, first appointed by the governor as chair of PRPA last March, is an attorney with the law firm of Cozen O'Connor in Philadelphia. Gov. Corbett appointed Kopp to a new term on the PRPA, and he will continue to serve as the body's chairman.
Also reappointed to PRPA was Boise L. Butler III, president of the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) Local 1291 in Philadelphia. He was first appointed to the authority in October 2007.
John J. Soroko, newly appointed to PRPA, is chairman and CEO of Duane Morris LLP in Philadelphia. He practices in the area of litigation with an emphasis on general business, corporate and securities matters.
James H. Shacklett III, also newly appointed, is CEO of National Label Company in Lafayette Hill, which has 400 employees. He also serves on Temple University's Board of Trustees.
The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority is an independent state agency charged with the management, maintenance, marketing, and promotion of publicly owned port facilities along the Delaware River in Philadelphia, as well as strategic planning in the port district.
PRPA works with its terminal operators to modernize, expand, and improve its facilities, and to market those facilities to prospective port users. Port cargoes and the activities they generate are responsible for thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the Philadelphia area and across Pennsylvania, as well as numerous other economic benefits.
