Glu Boosts Global Games Network with Launch of gPartners
Leader in social mobile gaming expands its network of third party development resources and opens global distribution network to independent developers
SAN FRANCISCO, March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Glu Mobile Inc. (Nasdaq: GLUU), a leading global publisher of social games for smartphone and tablet devices, today announced that the company will expand its third party development resources through gPartners - a network of strategic relationships with top global independent mobile and social game developers. Glu's gPartners program takes advantage of Glu's broad global distribution network, powerful proprietary development tools and world class sales and marketing execution. Initially, Glu will utilize the gPartner network to develop and deliver original Glu content to mobile and social gaming platforms. Barking Lizards, Escalation Studios, Flying Wisdom, Hitpoint, and Machine Works are among the first independent developers to join Glu's gPartners network. In addition, Glu intends to source and publish independent content from each of the company's major regions, including North America, EMEA and China, through gPartners.
"gPartners provides the opportunity for Glu to collaborate with top independent developers to bring original Glu content and new third party titles to top platforms, social networks and carriers worldwide," said Niccolo de Masi, CEO of Glu. "We are excited to continue building our global gaming network through the extension of Glu's global distribution assets and compelling social freemium content."
gPartners brings Glu's global reach and scale to third party developers looking to overcome the challenge of market fragmentation. With millions of ports completed and over 50 Million Downloads on iOS, Glu offers independent developers the tools, distribution channels and financing necessary to reach a global gaming audience.
Glu's gPartners program links audiences not only by games, but across devices, platforms, carriers and countries. Glu's global smartphone distribution reach and scale will give gPartner developers access to OEM channels, carriers, storefronts and a larger, more dynamic off-deck ecosystem. Each gPartner will benefit from premier direct-to-consumer relationships with Amazon, GetJar, and Handmark, among others.
"We are very excited to co-develop high-quality freemium social mobile games with Glu," said Tom Mustaine, CEO of Escalation Studios. We are looking forward to combining our design and development expertise with Glu's global cross-social platform connectivity, industry partnerships and world class publishing resources."
Additionally, Glu plans to continue offering successful original Glu content and gPartner assets to audiences on non-mobile platforms – having already taken its hit game Gun Bros to Facebook, hi5 and Wild Tangent.
