Gloria Molina Launches 'eastLAworks' Initiative to Help Support Local Merchants & Promote Community Efforts
East Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina, First District, unites with VELA to announce eastLAworks, a new initiative to promote new visitors to East Los Angeles. The goal is to provide business merchants located on the 3rd Street Corridor and its surrounding areas with business development services, marketing efforts, and media support.
EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The county of Los Angeles is experiencing a new era, a time of change with a view towards the future, without forgetting its existing foundations upon which it rests. The East Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina, First District, launched the eastLAworks initiative two years ago, a program to assist and support local businesses and its community. The eastLAworks initiative's primary functions are to develop a branding campaign to attract new visitors to East Los Angeles - creating a business model that would include a marketing campaign and provide business workshops and media support.
East Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina, First District, in collaboration with Executive Director Grace Gonzalez from VELA (a non-profit agency dedicated to implement various projects and programs for the community) joins hands in this remarkable community venture in supporting the local merchants of East Los Angeles area, the ninth largest city in Los Angeles County with over 140,000 residents.
This well rounded 360 degree campaign includes web presence and proprietary technology, grassroots outreach, traditional and multimedia marketing. The creator of the website, Greg Mills, CEO of Ambient Solutions "believed in the importance of creating a program that will help provide long term support to the community using technology to attract new consumers, even in areas outside of East Los Angeles." The website www.eastLAworks.com is the "HUB" where local merchants have on-line visibility and provides all that East LA has to offer the consumer easy access to specialty shops, fine dining the newly renovated Civic Center and state of the art bi-lingual library that showcases cultural art.
In January 2010, eastLAworks initiative launched a media campaign with their media partners HOY, TV Azteca and Univision Radio. The branding of the program will be enhanced through promotional extensions by the media partners. The program kicks off with "Los Sabores del Este de Los Angeles" a weekly cooking segment produced exclusively by Vivelohoy.com designed for this program that will air Friday, February 5th. This series will be featured every Friday on Vivelohoy.com and will be hosted by one of East Los Angeles' very own Chefs.
