With over 40 years of experience building world-class brands, such as Dell, American Express, Microsoft, Motorola, Pfizer, Sony and The Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Siegel+Gale brings the notion of elegant simplicity to the Chinese market—balancing the development of both local brands and multinational corporations.
Recognizing the importance of both Eastern and Western approaches to branding, Siegel+Gale named Warren Wang managing director of its offices in China. Based in Beijing, Wang will lead all operations in China from business development, to the growth of Siegel+Gale's profile and Simple is Smart philosophy in China.
"This is an exciting time for brand-building in China," says David Srere, co-president and chief executive officer. "Siegel+Gale's strategic approach to brand development offers a unique opportunity to unlock local brands' potential, while also helping global brands to differentiate. The diversity of Warren's background personally and professionally will help Siegel+Gale bridge China's brand development needs on a local and international scale."
Wang's 20 years of experience working in China and the United States spans a variety of industries in both private and public sectors, including financial services, industrial manufacturing, IT, healthcare, higher education, technology and telecommunications. His cross-cultural perspective has shaped Eastern and Western brands from the angles of consulting, corporate branding, marketing and corporate communications.
"Siegel+Gale's end-to-end offering from strategy and design through implementation is an incredible asset to the Chinese market," says Warren Wang, managing director, Siegel+Gale China. "The firm's careful consideration of business strategy combined with the artistry of design will propel Chinese brands to a new level of international acclaim. Likewise, offering Siegel+Gale capabilities in China tells global brands they have a world-class partner in establishing themselves in the East."
Prior to joining Siegel+Gale, Wang served as general manager at GolinHarris, a PR consultancy with an office in Beijing. Earlier, as general manager for branding firm FutureBrand in Beijing/Shanghai, he helped international brands land in China as well as connect Chinese brands to the rest of world. Wang also co-founded and became CEO of a software, system integration and internet solution company that supported local telecom corporations in China. Throughout his career, Wang has built a roster of clients, including InBev, Yili, Chinese Olympic Committee, China Everbright Holdings, China World Trade Center, DOW and China Mobile.
Wang earned his undergraduate degree in English Literature from Beijing Normal College of Foreign Languages and an M.A. in Communication Studies from Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts (U.S.). He is a native Mandarin speaker and fluent in English.
Bolstering its capabilities further, Siegel+Gale named Eric Lin general manager, Siegel+Gale Shanghai.
"Having worked with Siegel+Gale clients all over the world, I've seen firsthand how brands transform by solutions rooted in elegant simplicity," says Eric Lin, general manager, Siegel+Gale Shanghai. "Siegel+Gale understands how to apply this approach strategically to the brands most influential in China and globally."
Previously, Eric was a senior strategist at Siegel+Gale Los Angeles where he led engagements for clients, including Yahoo! Microsoft, Sony PlayStation, Freescale Semiconductor, Symantec, Demand Media, Agility and Qatar Telecom. Since joining Siegel+Gale, Eric has managed client assignments in the United States, the Middle East and Asia.
Siegel+Gale affirmed its commitment to the Chinese region in 2009 with brand development for one of China's oldest non-profit and non-governmental organizations—China Youth Development Foundation. The organization selected Siegel+Gale to position and create an identity for the 20th anniversary of its flagship program Project Hope.
