"We are pleased to have Kim join us in this role," said Natalye Paquin, Esq., Chief Executive Officer for Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. "She is an experienced and effective leader in the nonprofit industry, highly-engaged in civic affairs, and adept in advancing organizational integration. Kim has a proven track record of advancing the bottom line, thanks to her creative and strategic approach to outreach in the corporate, foundation, and government communities."
As the Director of Institutional Giving and Government Relations for The Franklin Institute since 2008, Fraites-Dow secured and stewarded multiple six- and seven-figure gifts from corporations, private foundations, and government agencies for operating and capital projects, providing key financial support during the most difficult fundraising environment in decades.
Prior to joining The Franklin Institute, Fraites-Dow worked for The Philadelphia Orchestra Association in increasingly senior roles culminating with Director of Corporate Affairs, and worked cross-functionally with the marketing, public relations, artistic, and education departments. She also served as Managing Director of The Piatigorsky Foundation and as an events and communications coordinator at The Juilliard School.
"Working for two of Philadelphia's leading cultural institutions has been more than a privilege for the past seven years," said Fraites-Dow. "I'm thrilled to be joining an organization that enjoys an equally strong reputation."
With a diverse commitment to the nonprofit community, Fraites-Dow is a member of the Executive Committee for the Asian Mosaic Fund of The Philadelphia Foundation, the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra Advisory Committee, and the Free Library of Philadelphia's One Book One Philadelphia Steering Committee. She is a graduate of the University of Rochester and holds Certificates from the Center for Progressive Leadership, the Arts Administration Program at New York University, and the Arts Leadership Program at Eastman School of Music.
The mission of Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania (GSEP) is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character. It is the largest girl-serving organization in Pennsylvania and provides the Girl Scouting experience through a range of leadership programs to more than 41,000 girls and 14,000 adult volunteers in nine Pennsylvania counties — Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, and Philadelphia. Approximately 80 percent of the nation's women in leadership and executive roles and 70 percent of U.S. Congresswomen are Girl Scout alumnae.
