"I want my music to be an expression of my soul and for my voice to reach every corner of the globe," said Giorgia Fumanti. "I believe the promise of technology has leveled the playing field for artists giving them as much freedom and opportunity as their creativity affords."
"As new business models emerge for both the music and advertising sectors at the same time, an integration of the two is accelerating as we increasingly recognize that both are creative industries that defy categorization," said Hal Bringman, founder and president of NVPR. "An artist on the rise who already has mass commercial appeal on a global scale like Giorgia Fumanti makes for a fascinating case-study in how to help build a brand around her music and persona to take her career to a higher level."
Giorgia Fumanti has a unique viewpoint and story to share with conference attendees. Once signed to a major record label as a priority artist, she got caught up in its corporate downsizing when it was acquired. A PBS television special "Heavenly Voices" was produced to accompany her album release and the label expected her to be their next super star.
FROM MY HEART charted on the top 20 on Billboard's top classical crossover albums, no. 1 in Japan and South Africa. However, the corporate conundrum cost her the promotion and development it required.
After meeting in Cannes at the recent music industry confab MIDEM, Giorgia Fumanti's manager, Maurice Velenosi, entered into a pact with digital media consultancy NVPR to help forge a strategy for her new album.
"NVPR's track record of building brands and pioneering digital media is impressive and after meeting with them, it was immediately clear to me that we needed to be working together to help Giorgia Fumanti reach her goal of sharing her music with the world," said Maurice Velenosi. "Their guidance in setting the stage to broker deals with brands, events and technology partners brings a fresh perspective and out of the box thinking that is needed in the shifting landscape of the creative industries we're working in."
Ms. Fumanti is a soprano and a multilingual singer of classical crossover pop, frequently compared to the likes of Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman and Enya.
She has already toured the world and is in high-demand for commercial and public performances, including:
- Performed at the Beijing Olympics in August 2008 for CCTV (700 million viewing audience).
- Selected by the 2010 World Expo Shanghai Bureau to sing the theme song (Better City, Better Life) with the famous baritone Liao Chang Yong. The song is used as a video and TV trailer featuring Giorgia Fumanti and Liao Chang Yong in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo ad campaign from May 2009 to October 2010.
- Performed on Dragon TV in Shanghai (20 million viewing audience) for the 200 day countdown to the Shanghai World Expo as well as performances at the Shanghai International Arts Festival and for Sennheiser China.
- Recorded a traditional Chinese song (Nan Ni Wan) in Mandarin for China Mobile ad campaign.
- Performed at the National Center of Performing Arts, in Beijing, with tenor Yu Qiang Dai and the Beijing Symphony Orchestra.
