Gibbs & Cox Appoints Jonathan Applequist Vice-President and Group Manager of Maritime Services Group
ARLINGTON, Va., April 7, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Gibbs & Cox, Inc., a leading independent naval architecture and marine engineering firm, announced the appointment of Mr. Jonathan Applequist as Vice President and Group Manager of the Gibbs & Cox (G&C) Maritime Services Group (MSG). In this role, Mr. Applequist will be responsible for management and execution of G&C's government services and support contracts.
MSG provides naval architecture, marine engineering and design services to a broad range of government clients including the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and Missile Defense Agency.
"Jonathan brings over 16 years of leadership, marine engineering and naval architect experience that spans platform development, program management and client support," said Chief Executive Rick Biben. "His successes managing customer fiscal and programmatic challenges is critical to G&C's Navy portfolio and industry collaboration."
Previously, Mr. Applequist was the Assistant Vice President and Deputy Group Manager of MSG. In 2010 Mr. Applequist was named the Rosenblatt Young Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Naval Engineers, and also the Young Engineer of the Year by the Washington DC Council of Engineering and Architecture Societies.
Mr. Applequist holds a bachelor's of science in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Virginia and a certified Project Management Professional.
Mr. Applequist has been promoted into his new role as Mr. Frank DeMasi retires. Mr. DeMasi spent 15 years in industry after retiring from the Navy as a captain. In his five years at Gibbs & Cox, he provided outstanding leadership, more than doubling this business area.
