'Get Your Licks on Route 66' North Shore Animal League America and FIDO Friendly Magazine Team Up for a Lifesaving National Adoption Tour

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --North Shore Animal League America, the world's largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, and FIDO Friendly Magazine, the travel and lifestyle publication for dog owners, have joined forces for "Get Your Licks on Route 66" – a national pet adoption tour that will travel the entire length of Route 66, from Illinois to California.

The Tour will kick off at Chicago Heights City Hall and then head out onto Route 66 for nearly a month, traveling over 3,200 miles, culminating with a final wrap party and adoption event in Los Angeles.

The Animal League's 36-foot Mobile Adoption Unit will travel through eight states, partnering with local shelters and rescue groups in Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. "The Get Your Licks on Route 66" tour will raise awareness to the plight of homeless pets and vital services that participating animal shelter and rescue partners provide to their communities, and engage pet lovers through special events.
