'Get Your Green On' at the 2011 San Francisco Flower & Garden Show!
Annual Festival Expands its Appeal with Celebrity Chefs, Sustainable Exhibits and Family Fun
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nothing says Spring like the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show, www.sfgardenshow.com. Now entering its 26th year with a bigger, better and greener approach, twenty installations from top designers and seminars led by experts such as HGTV personality Gary Gragg and syndicated columnist "The Dirt Diva" Annie Spiegleman, invite attendees to "Get Your Green On" Wednesday, March 23 through Sunday, March 27 at the San Mateo Event Center. Single day tickets are $20, Multi day passes $25 and children under 16 are free.
Sure to appeal to foodies will be celebrity chef cooking demonstrations including Esquire Magazine's "2010 Chef of the Year" Sean Baker of Gather, Roland Passot of La Folie, Jeffrey Stout of Alexander's Steakhouse, and Andrea Froncillo of The Stinking Rose. Alice Waters, who has achieved iconic status as the godmother of organic cuisine at Chez Panisse in Berkeley and Sunset's Margo True will both lecture as well as cook.
"The Flower & Garden Show is a celebration of 'Life in the California Garden' and how we connect to our environment," explained Producer Kay Estey. "Because food and gardening naturally go together, this year we're featuring an Edible Modern Homestead Garden and a Wine Tasting Section. We're also excited about the first Bay Area public showing of three short films from Deborah Koons Garcia's new documentary project Symphony of the Soil."
While experienced gardeners will be excited by displays on flower arranging, design trends, water conservation, and cutting edge ideas - the festival is equally accessible to newcomers and visitors seeking a unique outing. Popular sections include creations by the California Garden Clubs and the Bonsai Society of San Francisco, plus new and rare plants shown by the Western Horticultural Society. A Marketplace with 200 vendors, a special Children's Garden called Sproutopia with fun-filled, hands-on learning opportunities, and spectacular art installations are among the draws that make this an exceptional Bay Area travel destination.
The San Francisco Flower & Garden Show is held at 1346 Saratoga Drive in San Mateo, midway between San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Doors open at 10am daily. For Early Bird Pricing, Directions and a Daily Calendar visit www.sfgardenshow.com or call 925-605-2923.
