Gaumard Marks 12 Years of Active Mobile Simulation at EMS World Expo
From Earthquakes to Cable Car Rescues, HAL® is Always on the Move
MIAMI, Oct. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On the 12th anniversary of Gaumard Scientific Company's launch of the world's first fully tetherless patient simulator, HAL® S3000, the company finds that active mobile simulation is taking on greater significance than ever before as emergency responders increasingly find themselves training for situations involving an active assailant.
In one such simulation taking place tomorrow in New Orleans during the annual EMS World Expo, emergency responders will train with Gaumard's HAL® simulators to provide medical treatment while extracting victims from the scene of an active shooting.
The training workshop is being conducted by Southeast Tactical LLC and takes place at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. Gaumard will exhibit its HAL® simulators, HAL® S315 skills trainers and other manikins from October 5 - 7 in booth #1949.
Since the introduction of its first fully tetherless simulator in October 2004, Gaumard has launched additional adult, newborn and pediatric HAL® models for training EMS and other emergency responders.
The HAL simulators facilitate training EMS to diagnose and treat victims of disasters ranging from earthquakes to cable car accidents while at the scene of the disaster and throughout the process of being transported to a medical facility and being moved within the facility.
"The wireless, tetherless features are more vital than ever before, given the growing number of EMS training for active assailant scenarios," said Ann Romens, an EMS World Expo organizer and business development manager.
"These scenarios could happen anywhere and require rapid response and movement through numerous locations."
Gaumard executive vice president John Eggert added: "HAL® simulators enable EMS to learn how to diagnose and treat victims using real monitoring and resuscitation equipment in situations that change minute by minute."
"HAL operates continuously as victims are moved through the chain of care from the field to the ambulance and the emergency department."
The tetherless technology enables the communications, compressor, and power supply to be inside HAL®, eliminating external tubes, wires, and compressors. HAL® simulators can be controlled at distances up to 300 meters and between rooms and floors of conventional buildings.
HAL® simulators smoothly transition between physiologic states in response to commands from a wireless PC and have proved durable in independent testing in hot and cold conditions and wet and dry environments.
