Ganeden Biotech and Glanbia Nutritionals Develop New Partnership Integrating Probiotics with Micronutrient Premixes
Product samples to be available at this year's Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Annual Meeting and Food Expo
CLEVELAND, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Ganeden Biotech, Inc., maker of the patented probiotic strain GanedenBC30®, today announced a new partnership with Glanbia Nutritionals. Glanbia Nutritionals produces custom micronutrient premixes for the food, beverage, human health and personal care industries. Ganeden's booth at the IFT tradeshow in Chicago will sample a stick pack containing an immune health micronutrient premix from Glanbia Nutritionals and GanedenBC30, a probiotic that boosts immunity and contributes to improved digestive health.
"We have been looking for the right company to help enhance our nutritional ingredients. Ganeden Biotech is a great fit because their probiotic product meets our strict stability requirements necessary for food and beverage applications," said Dr. Cyrus Mehr, Director of Innovation for Glanbia Nutritionals. "Collaborating with Ganeden and adding GanedenBC30 to our premix solutions further enables the body to better absorb the nutrients needed for optimal performance."
Probiotics are "good bacteria" that have been shown to improve digestive health and support immunity. Unlike many probiotic strains, GanedenBC30 is unique in its ability to survive harsh manufacturing processes, and to be incorporated into a variety of products ranging from frozen yogurt to nutrient supplements. The survivability and viability of GanedenBC30 can be attributed to the spore-forming nature of the organism. GanedenBC30 has a natural occurring layer of organic material that protects the genetic core of the bacteria.
"Partnering with an industry leader such as Glanbia Nutritionals will enable us to broaden the applications of GanedenBC30 into more functional foods, beverages and engineered nutraceutical applications," said Andrew Lefkowitz, Ganeden Biotech president and CEO. "The experience, knowledge and high standard of quality that Glanbia Nutritionals brings to the market further supports our commitment to provide superior probiotic ingredients."
The probiotic immunity blended stick packs will be available to sample at this year's IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo, which runs from July 17 – 20, 2010 in Chicago at Ganeden Biotech's booth (3361).
