G-Mode Co. Ltd. to Bring Classic Data East Arcade Titles to Next Billion Consumers
Zeebo's 3G Wireless Digital Distribution Enables Monetization of 'Virtualized' Titles
SAN DIEGO, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Zeebo, Inc. today announced Tokyo-based G-Mode Co Ltd., is planning to launch several "virtualized" titles on the Zeebo system. Zeebo, Inc. is the maker of the Zeebo 3G-connected digital gaming, entertainment and education platform. The system was developed exclusively for emerging global markets. Caveman Ninja, Spinmaster and Street Slam will soon be available for purchase and download by Zeebo customers in Brazil and Mexico where the system is currently selling. G-Mode will bring additional games to Zeebo later this year including Super Burger Time, Magical Drop III, Karnov's Revenge, and Wizard of Fire.
"It is exciting to see such a successful Japanese publisher like G-Mode offer these popular Data East arcade titles to consumers in emerging markets via the Zeebo system," said Mike Yuen, senior vice president of global content and services, Zeebo, Inc. "Zeebo offers G-Mode and other publishers the ability to market and monetize their 'virtualized' titles commercially, a model that was previously impossible due to rampant piracy and no digital distribution pipe to work with."
"We are very excited about the Zeebo system and to see Data East Classic Titles as part of its library for consumers in emerging markets," said Takeshi Miyaji, president of G-mode. "We look forward in bringing most of the Data East Classics Catalogue to consumers in Brazil and Mexico and hope to see this platform grow into other markets."
The Zeebo platform fosters the development and monetization of local content by preventing piracy through fast and convenient shopping via secure 3G broadband wireless cellular connectivity and over-the-air delivery. Connectivity is provided pre-activated for the system, and the consumer does not have to sign up for any additional service plan or contract. Content delivery and user interface software updates occur over the wireless network and are completely transparent to the customer. They simply plug the Zeebo into their television set and the system automatically connects to the ZeeboNet Wireless Network.
