Fujitsu Unveils Innovative Prototype of Mobile-based Unified Commerce Platform at NRF in Booth #3905
FUJITSU U-Shop Brings Mobile Simplicity to In-Store Shopping Experience and Eliminates the Need to Wait in Checkout Lines
NEW YORK, Jan. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Fujitsu today unveiled FUJITSU U-Shop – a prototype of a unified commerce platform that brings the simplicity and convenience of mobile shopping into retail stores. An ideal solution for retailers looking for a modern-day solution to unite existing brick and mortar and online stores, this innovative, cloud-based solution is being demonstrated along with the full line of industry-leading retail solutions from Fujitsu in Booth #3905 at the National Retail Federation's (NRF) Big Show in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Center from January 15-17.
U-shop allows customers to use their mobile phones to enhance their in-store shopping experience. Purpose-built to seamlessly integrate into retailers' existing mobile apps, U-Shop gives customers inventory and pricing information right on their mobile devices. This level of transparency and holistic view of availability helps retailers maximize in-store sales conversions by ensuring that customers can always find the exact products they want regardless of size, color or location. For example, if a customer sees a product they would like to purchase in-store, but the color they want is not there, they have the option to scan it with their smartphone, find the exact product and place the order online. In addition, U-Shop enables customers to pay for all purchases – both in-store and online – together using cash or one of many mobile payment options. If cash is being used, U-Shop transfers the transaction to an automated cash payment station, like Fujitsu's U-Scan® self-checkout. Alternately, using one of the mobile payment options eliminates the need for customers to wait in checkout lines and helps retailers minimize the number of point-of-sale units, thereby lowering in-store capex and creating more room for inventory.
"Legacy technology is the biggest roadblock for existing retailers to have a technologically cohesive consumer experience that allows them to compete with start-ups," said Marc Janssens, head of Retail business, Fujitsu Americas, Inc. "U-Shop provides a unified commerce platform for retailers to leverage their established online and brick and mortar stores to not only attract modern-day customers, but also compete with newer retail companies."
U-Shop can be used with a host of Fujitsu point-of-sale solutions, including U-Scan, Fujitsu Fresco™, Marketplace and GlobalSTORE® solutions, as well as FUJITSU Retail Engagement Analytics and its Wearable Alerts Solution in collaboration with Samsung. Retailers employing these industry-leading solutions are rewarded with a powerful, technologically advanced platform that creates a unified in-store and online shopping experience that strengthens brand loyalty and delivers a competitive advantage.
