CHICAGO, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Frommer Lawrence & Haug partner and BIO 2010 presenter, Thomas J. Kowalski, has been named to the International Who's Who of Patent Attorneys for 2010-11. This is Mr. Kowalski's first nomination to the prestigious list, which features the world's leading practitioners in patent law.
Only patent attorneys who have received multiple independent nominations from clients and fellow attorneys are included in the listing, published by Who's Who Legal. Official copies of the publication, which will feature Mr. Kowalski's national and international biotechnology expertise, will be issued in mid-May.
Mr. Kowalski brings his breadth of experience to BIO 2010. He will be joined by FLH partners, Brian Malkin, Bob McWright and Grace Pan; associate Dr. Deborah Lu; and Scientific Advisor Dr. Smitha Uthaman at exhibit booth 2734, where the FLH delegation will feature a number of articles on biotechnology authored by members of the Firm and answer questions of fellow participants and exhibitors.
On May 6, Mr. Kowalski will join Dr. Maria Fotaki, Biotechnology Director of the European Patent Office and several others and present at the BIO 2010 session, "Effective Academia and Industry Interactions: The Role of Patents in Attracting Industry Interest in this Economy." The session will be held from 8:00am to 9:30am in room N427A at McCormick Place and will shed light on the ways in which industry and academia might effectively partner to drive research programs, especially in this age of economic uncertainty.
"It is a very great honor to be nominated to this list of the world's top patent attorneys based on my biotech patent work, and I am most grateful to all who considered me worthy of this honor," Mr. Kowalski said. "BIO 2010 is an excellent venue to engage in a robust dialogue on the most current issues facing the vibrant biotech industry. All of us at FLH believe in being value added, and look forward to providing a worthwhile contribution to the discussion," he added.
