FRIDAY: 1,000 Activists March on Reagan Building to Stop Keystone XL Pipeline
WASHINGTON, Oct. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the biggest D.C. environmental rally of the year, more than 1,000 activists from the climate, environment, and faith communities will descend upon downtown Washington, D.C. at noon on Friday, October 7 to send a clear message to the State Department and to President Obama: reject the Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline.
This event will provide excellent sights, sounds, and expert sources for the media. Interviews are available in advance upon request.
Attendees will gather outside of the Ronald Reagan Building, where the State Department will hold a hearing about the pipeline. This is the final hearing in a process riddled with controversy. The State Department's process has recently been called into question after internal emails were discovered connecting a major lobbyist for the project to Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, and management of the hearings have seemingly favored Big Oil and their supporters.
