Freudenberg-NOK Helps Drivers Plug Into Electric Vehicles During National Electric Drive Week
PLYMOUTH, Mich., Sept. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- It's National Drive Electric Week, and Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies has joined with companies and organizations across the United States to help celebrate and support the automotive industry's e-mobility offerings.
Freudenberg-NOK will host approximately 18 electric vehicles and 10 electric bicycles at its headquarters in Plymouth, Mich. on Sept. 14. Visitors and employees will have the opportunity to see and ride in the vehicles, talk to electric vehicle owners and pick up literature and information about electric vehicles and the contributions that Freudenberg-NOK is making to this rapidly evolving industry. Freudenberg-NOK is hosting its electric vehicle car show in cooperation with the Michigan Electric Auto Association (MEAA).
"We are happy to sponsor this event as part of an ongoing commitment to help our customers develop all forms of newer, cleaner powertrain technologies," said Matthew Portu, President, Freudenberg-NOK. "There are multiple ways to get to greener vehicles, and hybrid electric power will play an important role in this evolution. We're gratified that our products and efforts are helping to establish a viable e-mobility network."
In addition to hosting the National Drive Electric Week vehicle show, Freudenberg-NOK has installed six plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) charging stations at its headquarters and is making the stations available to both employees and the public to use. The company joined the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Workplace Charging Challenge in 2015 and completed installing the PEV charging stations this summer.
The DOE Challenge encourages companies across the country to install PEV charging stations as a means to create a national grid of fueling stations for electric vehicle drivers.
National Drive Electric Week – a week-long event to heighten awareness of today's all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles – is organized by Plug in America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association. Participants are encouraged to host programs and events that make electric vehicles available for test drives and viewing. The public is invited to join Freudenberg-NOK's event from noon-5 p.m. on Sept. 14.
Freudenberg-NOK supplies seals for lithium-ion batteries, electric drive motors, process control units and chargers to a variety of electric vehicle manufacturers including GM, Nissan, Ford and other high-end automotive manufacturers. The company's decision to help further the growth of this technology through its products, charging stations and electric vehicle event supports its core business principles of sustainability, local community responsibility, leadership and a long-term orientation.
In addition to electric vehicles, Freudenberg-NOK has developed an entire portfolio of components that are targeted at reducing CO2 emissions and increasing fuel economy in internal combustion cars and trucks through its Low Emission Sealing Solutions (LESS) products.
