Free Medical Clinic Seeks Volunteers and Patients
July 3 New Orleans Event Is for People without Access to Medical Care
NEW ORLEANS, June 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The toll-free phone line is available for uninsured patients to make appointments for the massive free clinic the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) will hold on July 3 in New Orleans, while more medical and non-medical volunteers are still needed. Patients may call 800-340-1301 to register for the clinic, which will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
"Helping fellow citizens is a good way for volunteers to show their American spirit on the day before Independence Day," NAFC Executive Director Nicole Lamoureux said. "New Orleans area citizens, as well as those from throughout the nation, have demonstrated their caring for others by turning out in the hundreds to volunteer at our three previous clinics in the city, and we hope to have a similar turnout this year."
All patients will receive preventive primary medical care and be connected to the area's safety-net providers and additional resources. The clinic will be only for uninsured people. Those who have benefits from Medicaid, Medicare or Veterans Affairs are not eligible.
Shifts are open for volunteers from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the day of the event, and help also will be needed setting up the clinic on July 2.
Information on the event and how to register is available online at: www.nafcclinics.org. Information on how to donate and support this and future clinics is also available at that address by clicking on the "Donate Now" button.
