Free Event Open to the Public: Port of San Diego Fleet Week Big Bay Family Festival
"NCIS: Los Angeles" stars LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell to help fete the military
SAN DIEGO, Sep. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The "stars" and ships align on Saturday and Sunday, September 18 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as a new and exciting event, The Port of San Diego Fleet Week Big Bay Family Festival, kicks off Fleet Week activities. This free event takes place downtown at the B Street Cruise Ship Terminal (1140 North Harbor Drive, 92101) and celebrates the men and women of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Highlights include:
- Special appearances by LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell, stars of the hit CBS series NCIS: Los Angeles. The popular TV tandem will be appear together on Saturday, September 18, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. They'll greet the military and public, and provide a preview of NCIS: Los Angeles' season two, which premieres on September 21.
- Free public tours of the historic USS Freedom, USS Pinckney and USS Gary, and Q & A opportunities with Navy, Marine and Coast Guard personnel. Plus, fun and informative military displays and exhibits will be featured inside the cruise terminal and on the pier.
- Free entertainment featuring Navy and Marine bands, Children's Fun Zone, and in-water military demonstrations. Also, Taste of the Bay food and refreshments will be available for a fee, including the Taste of Freedom beer garden.
- Free Admission to USS Midway during the Fleet Week Big Bay Family Festival weekend. The coupons, which are available at the USS Midway booth at the festival, are good for one admission. The coupon may not be combined with other offers.

Notes: Important Festival Information
All visitors must observe the security rules enforced by the Transportation Security Administration at airports: No sharp objects, weapons, explosive and flammable materials, disabling chemicals and other dangerous items. No liquid containers, other than baby bottles or liquids for medical reasons are permitted in the venue. No outside food is permitted. No bags, although special consideration will be given to diaper bags that accompany small children. All patrons will be subject to search and will pass through magnetrometers at the entrance, so even very small knives, etc. will not be allowed into the venue. No metal objects whatsoever.
Fleet Week San Diego venues are accessible to persons with disabilities. However, the ships are not.
The Fleet Week San Diego hosts recommend wearing comfortable, flat, close-toed shoes to tour the ships. For the outdoor activities, be prepared for a day in the sun.
